Amanda joins Butterfly Effects with 4 years of experience in the Applied Behavior Analysis field. She has experience working with clients and families of various ages and backgrounds. Ms. Folkesson specializes in reduction of problem behaviors, increasing verbal behavior, and social and daily living skills teaching. She received her Bachelor’s degree from University of Bridgeport in 2004 and graduated with a Master’s of Science in Psychology, with a focus on Behavior Analysis, in 2008. She is certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) department is made up of some of the fields leading experts. Our consults utilize the principles of ABA for building useful skills in individuals of all ages with a variety of learning, communication, and behavioral challenges. Skills are taught in both structured situations, such as 1-to-1 and classroom setting, as well as in more "natural" everyday situations, such as during meal time or at the grocery store. All consultants are training in clinical techniques including Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), Naturalized Environment Training (NET), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), Verbal Behavior (VB), Augmentative & Alternative Communications (AAC), PECS and ASL, Developmental and Play Based Approaches.
