This course is designed for behavior analysts, mental health professionals, and special educators. The course will provide an overview of the meaning of natural contexts and the learning opportunities they provide across a variety of domains. Participants will be presented with a framework for developing and implementing intervention programs using natural contexts. This will include instruction related to goal setting for intervention programs that will occur within natural contexts. Participants will learn how to write appropriate goals that are based on parent/caregiver priorities and the present abilities of the child. Information related to addressing the components of applied behavior analysis presented in 1968 by Baer, Wolf, and Risley within natural contexts will also be shared. A review of a variety of applications of ABA that have been used to teach new skills will be presented followed by procedures for utilizing these applications and general ABA procedures to teach new skills within natural contexts. Finally, participants will learn about a variety of behavioral strategies and principles that are effective in teaching a variety of skills within natural contexts. Eligible for Three Type II CE for Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
