Course Description

This course is designed for behavior analysts and is taken completely online. Participants will understand the two main functions for challenging behavior as well as examples for each category. Discussion and an activity related to writing functions for behavior in a specific manner will be provided. Participants will also learn how to work with team members to choose and define target behaviors in ways that are measurable, Procedures for conducting functional behavior assessment interviews with team members to begin the functional behavior assessment process will be provided. Participants will then learn to plan for direct observations and data collection based on information gathered during functional behavioral assessment interviews. Finally, the concept of triangulating data will be discussed. Participants will learn to triangulate the data to develop an informed hypothesis about the function of the target behavior. A variety of activities will be presented to allow participants to apply their knowledge to their current behavioral intervention practices. This course is approved for 3 Type II CE for BCBA and BCaBAs.
